The Secret of Discount Tickets for the Aug NYC Event!

Only 8 days until the book's pre-release event at the Society Of Illustrators in New York City on Wednesday, August 7, at 7pm! And here's how you can get discounted tickets!

It's simple, really: if you pre-order the Secret History of Marvel Comics from Fantagraphics before Wednesday, you can bring your receipt to the event to receive the $7 student rate (instead of the $15 for non-SOI members, or the $10 rate for members). You can also pre-order your event tickets now! (If you're not a member or a student, bring your Fanta. receipt to the event and they'll credit you back the difference right there on the spot!)

The other benefit of pre-ordering from Fantagraphics is that you'll be amongst the first to receive a copy of the book that the authors say will blow a mindhole in your perception of the genesis of Marvel Comics! The book itself is already at the printers so, if you pre-order, it's only a short matter of time until you have the book in your hot little hands.

Stay tuned to this blog for more special deals available at the event. We'll see you there!

New York City Event on Aug 7!

Welcome to "The Secret History Of Marvel Comics" book blog, where you can get the most up-to-date information on the upcoming release in November of 2013 from Fantagraphics Books, Inc., including your first look at the final cover for the book! (Click on the image to your left to see a full-sized version.)

Event Alert! If you're in the New York City area in the first week of August, authors Blake Bell and Dr. Michael J. Vassallo will provide a sneak peek of book at the Society Of Illustrators (located at 128 E 63rd St) on Wednesday, August 7, at 7pm.

Host Danny Fingeroth will interview the authors about the making of the book. They will also narrate a slide show presentation; the first opportunity to preview what secrets lurk between its covers. There will be an audience Q&A, followed by a book signing session for all three men. Come and learn why this book will blow a hole in your perception of the origins of Marvel Comics and to see a deluge of some never-before reprinted work from creators like Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, Alex Schomburg, Bill Everett, Matt Baker, Al Jaffee, Dave Berg, Dan DeCarlo, Stan Drake, Mort Walker, Hank Ketcham, Frank R. Paul and so many more!
